Why I Quit the Voice Coaching, But I’m Still in the Music Industry

It has been a while since I last blogged on here, but if you want to find me, I’m blogging at Talent Showcase Africa, where I’ve now dedicated most of my music and artiste development work.

And what’s more, I’ve quit teaching. Yes, you heard that right. I am no longer voice coaching. I stopped coaching in September 2024. I’ve also moved to Nairobi. 

All my vocal training products are available via my blog, although my domains joettmusic.com and joettmusic.coach are no longer live.

I’ve let them go, but as they both reverted to my Blogger account, all my published articles are intact, and my blog still stands. 

I’ve been observing the music industry on the mainstream circuit, and I have to say, I am disappointed. I’ve always wanted to see the development of African singers as singers, and I’ve done a lot of work over many years in developing artists.

But the way things are going, with A-list artists unable to hold a note getting all the attention and phenomenal paychecks, I just don’t know what to think. 

This is one of the reasons I decided to step away for a while and focus more on getting artists with high-quality tracks aired on mainstream radio, off the back of my syndicated Namibia-based radio show, Talent Showcase Africa Playlist. 

On March 14, 2025, my partners and I officially launched our new online radio station, TSA Radio, where all the episodes I have produced will air on a 24/7 rotation, giving emerging African artists and their music more traction.
