Nanasi Dance Studio Opens in Dar es salam Friday 1st July
Nanasi Dance Studio opens at the Oysterbay Shopping Center in Dar es salaam on Friday 1st July 2011. It is a lovely studio. Come and take a spin, you'll love it! I know you will. I'll be running dance-for-exercise classes there. Just call to make a booking. My scheduled days at Nanasi are Tuesdays 6pm, Thursdays 6pm and Saturdays 10am. All subject to change. Let's roll this out and I shall keep you update.
What I like about dancing is it's very effective for weight-loss IF you take it seriously and apply yourself. Yes, it probably isn't easy work but when you stick to the plan and don't procrastinate you reach a point where your body tells you "I wanna dance!" And besides, let's face it, it is great fun. In my dance class, it can get hectic. But you may slow down if you want. Take baby steps. When your body gets used to the dance routine you WILL be able to do more. So take it easy, but most importantly, enjoy!
See you there!

Joett Valetine's Day Video Re-Uploaded to YouTube After Technical Glitch
The sound on my YouTube video was too loud and distorted. My videographer seems to have pumped up the volume when they absolutely didn't need to. Eventually, I got a techie friend of mine to remove the sound and to reload it properly. It's now up on YouTube ... sounding like it does on the CD -- as it should!

Michael Jackson's Second Anniversary : Gary, Ind. Pays Tribute
GARY, Ind. -- Michael Jackson's childhood hometown of Gary is preparing a memorial tribute to be displayed on the second anniversary of his death on Saturday at the house where he grew up.
Gary officials are calling the remembrance a "Tribute to Michael" at the house that the Jackson family moved out of after the Jackson 5 found fame. The Post-Tribune of Merrillville reported that the second anniversary of Jackson's death will be marked with Jackson's music, vendors and a candlelight vigil at dusk. Read the full article here!
RARE Michael Jackson photos I came across are truly amazing AND indeed rare. Take a look at the one in which Michael steps out of a swimming pool with only his swimming trunks on. See Micheal Jackson's rare photos here!

Salsa Dancing 101: Instructional Salsa Dance Step-By-Step Course
Last week was one of those weeks from hell for me. I spent hours on end Monday through Saturday (with the exception of Wednesday) training 22 dancers in preparation for a demo/pilot video shoot that took place on Saturday. Don't get me wrong, I was honored to be called for the job...a production for a show coming to ITV, and it was a heck of a lot of fun, but it got to a point I had to cancel some of my own dance and singing classes to accommodate them. Good job it's all done and dusted now. Well, for now. I was responsible for pop, Sammy Cool and Bud Spencer took care of the rumba. More on this later.
My dance-into-shape classes are still running, although attendance isn't where it should be. I know it's hard work guys, but if you want to look good, feel great and lose some extra pounds it can't be easy. You're going to have to put in some work. Well, for those of you who'd rather stay home and try something on your own, I'm going to recommend you try Salsa Dancing 101: Instructional Salsa Dance Step-By-Step Course.
Have fun and catch up with you next time!

Amazing Grace Singer from Zimbabwe Confined to a Wheelchair
Finally, after five months of surgery and rehabilitation in Denver, Prudence Mabhena can sit up straight in her wheelchair. And that's enough for the singer to belt out an amazing "Amazing Grace."
Walter Isenberg, president and chief executive of Sage Hospitality in Denver, donated the suite in his hotel to Prudence because, among other things, he feels passionate about helping African kids in need.
"It's amazing that someone with her physical challenges would be so positive about life," he said. "And it's a lesson for all of us. We take all sorts of things for granted. We are spoiled."
This is such an amazing story, it'll make you cry. Prudence Mabhena, a singer from Zimbabwe, who has endured the impossible and who now writes her own music and spends time in recording studios and on stages, the question is: How much more can she thrive?
Despite all she has endured, Mabhena worries that life might become too easy. She struggles to remain humble.
"So many times when I went through pain, I thought it was God's way to tell me not to complain," she said. "I would meet people with more problems than me, and still I could complain and complain and complain."

Catherine Zeta-Jones Didn't Complain About Depression
Oscar-winner Michael Douglas, who completed chemotherapy for throat cancer last November, said of his wife CATHERINE Zeta-Jones that she never “complained” about being depressed.
The Welsh actress — who earlier this year spent time as an in-patient at the Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut, to deal with Bipolar II disorder — didn’t admit her struggle to her spouse, who was suffering with throat cancer, but is now getting better. To find out more on this story read the article Catherine Zeta-Jones didn't complain about depression.
Douglas attributed the cancer to a combination of stress, his previous alcohol abuse, and years of heavy smoking. Which brings me to the main thrust of this blog post, and as a singer and vocal coach who advocates healthy living to preserve the throat, smoking and excessive drinking DOES affect the throat! Worst case scenario is a bout with cancer as a result of these excesses. Two weeks ago I lost a close family friend to throat cancer (no, she didn't smoke). I can only imagine what Catherine was going through as did the family of the deceased.
