Nu-disco is a 21st century dance music genre associated with the renewed interest in 1970s and early 1980s disco, mid-1980s Italo disco, and the synthesizer-heavy Eurodisco aesthetics. The moniker appeared in print as early as 2002, and by mid-2008 was used by record shops such as the online retailers Juno and Beatport. These vendors often associate it with re-edits of original-era disco music, as well as with music from European producers who make dance music inspired by original-era American disco, electro and other genres popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It is also used to describe the music on several American labels that were previously associated with the genres electroclash and deep house.
On today's show: We bring you the latest edition of Boogie's evolution…a future fabulous theme segment Nu Disco. This is Boogie's perspective on the natural evolution of our beloved disco sound as it transforms into the revolutionary disco sounds of the 21st century. Expect synthesizer-heavy chords, vocoders, the beloved sound of talkboxes and a combination of everything that springs from the late 1970s and early 1980s electronic sound.
Disco, Boogie, Balearic sounds and Italo disco come together to take you on a musical journey of retro-futurism! With this, we celebrate the fabulous fusion of classic and modern. Ladies and gentlemen, a warm welcome to a brand new segment we call A Taste Of [yes, just those 3 words] and today, we give you A Taste Of Nu Disco on Boogie with me—JOETT and with DJ Kobo sitting in for DJ Cue spinning the decks, right here on Times 100.5 FM…where we have the bottle to say DISCO NEVER DIED!

MP3 Gift Ideas for the One You Love On Valentine's Day
When I was shooting a Valentine’s Day music video in a shopping mall where I invited passersby to write the name of the ones they love on a placard above the title of my song “I Could Never Live (Without Your Love)” for inclusion in my video, their eagerness and excitement to step in front of the camera was simply electric – it made me realize that there were more ways than one to say I Love You. In this article I will discuss the option to send an MP3 gift on Valentine’s Day.
What is perhaps the advantage with MP3 is that you can buy a single track; a selection of tracks; or even an album with just a couple of clicks…and have that delivered to the person you want instantly. Now let’s assume you like a certain song on an album, and that that song was never released as a single, yet it has the message you want to convey on this auspicious day. Well, unlike CDs, where you cannot extract the song you want without having to buy the entire album, with MP3 you can.
And so it is Valentine’s Day, and you want to send that special song containing the title and lyrics that will convey your message, what would you do? Well, here’s a plan.
Digital music gift cards do the job! You may send the recipient the link to the track you want to send them as a gift, along with a gift card or voucher they can use to pay for the track. Here are the top five digital music gift cards: iTunes Gift Cards, Amazon Gift Cards, Amazon MP3 Gift Cards, eMusic Gift Subscriptions, Wal-Mart Gift Cards. Needless to say, digital music gift cards also make great last minute gifts!
And it doesn’t have to end there. You can get quite creative with this if you put your mind to it. I’ll tell you what I did. I invited my fans and passersby at the mall to send a Valentine’s Day message that would appear in my music video. The idea was pretty simple. They wrote the name of the person they love above the title of my song “I Could Never Live (Without Your Love)”. We took a video shot of that, and it ends up in my
music video. I upload that to YouTube and share the link with everyone who took part so that they too can share it with the ones they love and friends. Yes, it is a form of viral marketing, but it can be great fun. Try it!
If you happen to be a musician or have the rights or permission to use a piece of composition, you could perhaps do the same. Create a video especially for Valentine’s Day and have that song/music play in the background. Use a placard to scribble your message and face the camera. Better yet, why not turn this into an event? Host a small party and invite friends to record their messages along with you. It could be great fun! Creating a YouTube video especially for Valentine’s Day messaging is easy and has a much deeper intrinsic value – for the effort and thought behind it – than you could ever imagine. Have a happy Valentine’s Day!

Joett Pays Tribute to Whitney Houston On Boogie
Last Sunday -- pretty impromptu it was cos I quite literally decided on this minutes before I left for the studio -- I decided to pay tribute to Whitney Houston on my radio show Boogie. I picked her 80s numbers, mainly, with one exception, her 1992 hit I Will Always Love You...only I played the Hex Hector mix. Awesome. Here are the 6 tracks I inserted into my playlist on Sunday February 12th 2012.
1. Love Will Save The Day 1987
2. So Emotional 1987
3. I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) 1987
4. How Will I Know 1985
5. I Will Always Love You (Hex Hector Mix) 1992
6. Greatest Love Of All (Club 69 Mix) 1985
Rest in peace Whitney Houston.
