Getting a Little Overzealous with the Vocal Training? Here's Why You Shouldn't Read too much Into the Technical Details

If you worry about how you’re fairing in voice training, then you will find some reassurance in this article. Please understand that it is of critical importance that you don’t read too much into the technical details of voice training, like where your chest voice is and what your head voice is meant to sound like, because all of this is really irrelevant. If anything, getting too involved in all of that could actually work against you. In this article, I try to explain why, when it comes to voice training, you ought to apply the KISS formula. Keep It Simple Stupid.

Having been a voice coach over the last 8 years, I have discovered some truly remarkable stumbling blocks. In context with the message in this article, those that hardly delved into the whys in relation to singing and only focused on doing the exercises correctly… not even knowing specifically why or what these lifeless exercises were for in the first place, tend to get quick results with the training because their only focus is in listening to instruction and doing the exercises.

My point being, the less you read into this, the quicker the results. I’ve seen people worrying a lot, thinking a lot, and reading way too deep into this, and I’ll tell you this for nothing… it works against them. So, the next time you’re feeling a little overzealous and rather tempted to overindulge, stop!

In fact, I would go to the extent of suggesting you simply become a robot. Because it is important that you don't crowd your mind with too many things. Only do the training. I hope this article helps you resolve a rather common problem.
